Works in the space and on the walls, installations and interventions, photographs and drawings by two artists planning their first joint exhibition reveal an interesting interplay between their artistic positions. Elisabeth Czihak works with moments of formal reduction and abstraction, with spatial emptiness and absence, with interstices and negative space. However, her photographs only show empty spaces and architecture at first glance; on closer inspection, they question the life and “experience” of spaces and buildings, of a Before and After. And they often provide the impetus for further works in which Czihak continues and condenses these moments in drawings, collages, sculptures, or installations.
Through her approach to space and body, empty spaces and absence, Czihak sees every exhibition situation as a challenge to enter into a dialogue with the spaces and find the display that fits them perfectly.
