Die gezeigten Fotoarbeiten entstanden auf unzähligen Streifzügen durch Paris und Umgebung während eines Stipendienaufenthalts im Jahr 2017. Es sind Motive, welche die Stadt (meist) abseits der touristischen Wahrnehmung ausmachen – je nach Atmosphäre teils analog, teils digital festgehalten. Seien es zufällig vorgefundene Situationen und bauliche Eigenheiten oder absichtlich aufgesuchte architektonische Meilensteine wie das UNESCO-Gebäude, Bauten von LeCorbusier, Versailles aus ungewöhnlichen Blickwinkeln oder auch Ansichten sozialer Wohnbauten: Sie alle verleihen Paris gleichermaßen Charakter und Geschichte.
Allen Fotografien gemeinsam ist die Umsetzung urbaner räumlicher Strukturen und atmosphärischer Dichte in präzise, grafisch betonte Kompositionen.
The photographic works on display were taken on countless expeditions through Paris and its vicinity during a stay as artist in residence in 2017. The motifs engage (mostly) with aspects of the city that usually do not feature in the tourist’s perception – they are, depending on the atmosphere, recorded by either analogue or digital means. Be it situations and architectural peculiarities the photographer stumbled upon by chance, or architectural milestones she intentionally visited, such as the UNESCO head quarters, buildings by Le Corbusier, unexpected perspectives on Versailles or public housing projects: they all lend both character and history to Paris.
What all photographs in the series have in common is the translation of urban spatial structures and atmospheric density into precise compositions emphasising graphic features.
